electronic health records. All communication transactions are controlled
by the patient. PaDok provides:
- Digital signature for authentication and integrity
- Hard encryption for privacy and confidentiality
- Special crypto-graphics for encrypting data for an unknown addressee
selected ex post by the patient (patented)
- Ticket-based store-and-forward concept
- Dedicated peer-to-peer connections to avoid risks of open Internet
- Smart card support for health professionals and patients
TOPCARE - A Telematic Home Care Platform
The TOPCARE homecare platform is a modular telematic homecare system which
comprises a telehealth server with a Web server as a front-end and a database
which holds the electronic health records of the patients and two types
of patient systems, a telecare gateway and a PC-based telematic home station.
The telecare gateway can be connected to a set of medical devices either
by serial lines or by Bluetooth (wireless telecommunications). The monitoring
data of the devices is collected in the telecare gateway and sent to a
telehealth server by an integrated modem (fixed) or by GSM (mobile).
The data of the patients is presented in a Web browser to authorized health
professionals. The TOPCARE platform takes advantage of Internet technologies.
It can be used either in private or in public networks. The system supports
in particular cooperative health care concepts. The TOPCARE systems can
easily be adapted to new telehealth scenarios.
